The RAID connectors are close to the bottom right and run 90 degrees to the regular connectors. Under XP is fine. Performance on the MSI never dropped below the performance of the KG7-RAID when the performance issues had been ironed out so we can say with confidence that it’s faster than that board. It may be a component in my setup, it may be a BIOS setting tweaked wrongly but I’m sure more memory performance is there to be unlocked. All in all, not a hugely compelling upgrade over current AMD DDR solutions, but the speed increases are there to be used if you can take advantage of them. Here we see the extra memory bandwidth of the KTA pulling its weight. As always though, it all depends on the applications that you run and whether they will be able to take advantage of the new speed increases.

Performance is good and overall the board seems great. Is it the same again, not quick, hard to implement etc and have MSI done a good job with the board?

It just seems that something in the configuration is holding the board back.

Test software comprises the usual k7g266, MadOnion’s 3DMark and SiSoft Sandra current versionI’ve also added a couple of benchmarks you don’t usually see, notably Distributed. If you are a heavy gamer, it’s a nice upgrade. However they ARE quicker and that’s what we are expecting. The KT is almost universally regarded as quite slow, hard to make work and it’s generally unloved.

As always though, it all depends on the applications that you run and whether they will be able to take advantage of the new speed increases. I must stress that the layout of motherboard is pure personal taste auvio some problem item in one case might be perfect in another. And using the supplied WDM audiio for the Live! So how does the layout of the K7T Pro2 stack up? It’s certainly eye catching, that’s for sure.

It’s certainly striking and with the gold Northbridge heatsink, I think MSI have tried to appeal to those who like to show off their PC’s in the case modding world. Lastly, aduio you can see, the PCB is bright red! Don’t rely too much on your own manual tweaking on the MSI to extract all the performance.
